congratulations you’re just a few simple and important steps away from embarking
on this new chapter in your life please make sure to check out the post acceptance checklist on our website it has all the important information you will need to
prepare for your arrival and OCC the first step is to receive your form i-20
visit the e-ship global website create an account and pay for express shipping
once you receive the document sign in if you are a transfer student in the US you
will receive form i-20 after you arrive at Orange Coast College next it’s time
to register for classes start with activating your MyOCC using the login
information you received by email once you have access check your registration
date to see when you can register for classes
remember classes fill up pretty quickly so it’s best not to wait if you’re a
transfer student you will need to purchase health insurance from Ascension
before you can register using the course selection guide choose and register for
your courses for your first semester it is advised that you choose courses that
fulfill the general education requirement remember you must enroll in
12 units for both the fall and spring semesters to maintain your status if
you are starting in the summer you will need to enroll in six units after you’ve
registered for your courses you will need to pay the student and exchange
visitor fee visit fmjfee.com and pay the SEVIS I-901 fee
make sure to print your receipt and bring it with you when you apply for
your visa with your SEVIS fee paid it’s now time to apply for a visa visit usembassy.gov to find a US consulate or embassy that has jurisdiction over where
your live here you will also find instructions on what to bring to apply
for a visa once you receive your visa it’s important to make sure all the
information is correct you will need health insurance while we are here after
you receive your visa visit the Ascension website to browse and purchase a mandatory health insurance plan you will also need to make arrangements for
temporary or long-term housing visit the housing and homestay webpage to find
housing resources such as jump off campus and the homestay program once you
have all your documents in hand it’s time to travel to the US make
arrangements to arrive up to 30 days prior but no later than the start date
on your i-20 on the day you travel carry with you on your person your I-20 I-901
fee receipt valid f1 visa valid passport and financial support documents once you
arrive in the U.S. contact Orange Coast Colleges Global Engagement Center to
schedule a time to report take the assessment exam and attend a group
counseling session the English and math assessment exam helps to determine an
appropriate level of course placement it’s important that you take this test
seriously you can visit the assessment Center’s web page to find sample
questions and other important information be sure to pick up a test
referral slip at the Global Engagement Center before you take the exam after
you take the assessment exam you can schedule an appointment to meet with an
academic counselor to discuss your academic plan if you have never attended
college you will receive an invitation by email to attend new international student group counseling the final step is to complete your course
registration for your first semester using your MyOCC portal and to pay for
tuition and fees you’re also required to attend a mandatory orientation a week
