James Allen Engagement Ring Unboxing | The Diamond Pro Review

Hey everyone, this is Mike Fried from the
Diamond Pro. Today we are doing an unboxing video looking
at a ring we purchased from James Allen. So after you open up your FedEx package, this
is what you see when you purchase a ring from James Allen. It’s a very nice box, simple, elegant. This is above and beyond what I would expect
from ordering a diamond. So you open the box and on top obviously,
you have here the ring box that has the ring. But, a little cute thing that James Allen
includes is a nice drawer here on the bottom that includes all the paperwork and documentation
that comes along with the ring. First, they give you a nice polishing cloth
that helps keep the ring shiny in between more substantial cleanings. And next, you have this nice little folio
with all the documents. So first here you have an appraisal that James
Allen provides, now obviously it’s not from an independent appraiser, but this is useful
if you’re looking to insure your ring. You need to provide some sort of documentation
for the insurance provider, they usually ask for an appraisal. Next, they have a nice note here that comes
from the person who did the inspection of the ring, nice personal touch. And here you have the GIA certificate, which
if you’ve read our website you’ve probably come across an article where we say that you
should only be buying diamonds that have a GIA or AGS certificate. And last, you have a little folder that includes
the invoice from your purchase. Overall this is very nice, very simple, but
done really, really well. So now to the main course here we have the
ring. The box is beautiful, simple in the James
Allen red. And you open it up and here is the ring. For this secret shopping, we went with
a half carat, H Color, SI2 clarity diamond. It’s set in a 14 karat gold, white gold setting. Now the diamond is absolutely brilliant, I’m
not sure if the video is capturing the amount of brilliance and sparkle that’s coming off
of this diamond, but it is absolutely stunning. And despite the fact that it has an H color
and an SI2 clarity the diamond appears to be completely white and 100% eye-clean. It’s really a fantastic diamond. Now, again, if you’ve been around our site
a little bit you know that we don’t recommend the higher qualities and we recommend finding
a nice sweet spot like an H, SI2, and using the James Allen video technology you’re able
to pick out a diamond that has inclusions but the inclusions are not noticeable to the
naked eye. So this was a fantastic choice. I know it’s a little tricky looking at the
videos so feel free to contact one of our diamond consultants and we’d be happy to pick
out a diamond for you. So in summary, I’m happy to say that this
secret shopping was a success. This isn’t the first time we’ve tested James
Allen, and it won’t be the last. Their dedication to improving the customer
experience really shines through in their attention to detail on every facet of the
packaging. The ring was absolutely gorgeous and a fantastic
value to boot. Utilizing our expertise in picking out a well
cut, H color, SI clarity diamond really helped us get the best bang for our buck. Once again, this is Mike Fried from the Diamond
Pro, take care.

  • I have always felt that if you can find an SI1 or an SI2 that is eye clean, then you have a great value. The price difference between an SI and VS ring is big. H in color is good and since it is the first half of the near colorless scale behind a G it always looks white. I personally stay away from J because I do not like the slight yellow tint. "I" can be nice but for me only in fashion jewelry.

  • Hi Pro, what weight is that ring ?

And for you which C is more important? Cut, Color, Carat, Clarity. Because I am thinking to buy a Round Diamond 3/4, E, VVS2, ideal cut, but i dont know if is too small. What property can I change to increase the size without affect the quality of the others Cs.
